Virginie Colline: Melancholy Haiku

Café by Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita

threadbare afternoon
the kerosene lamp hisses
like a rattlesnake

love simulacra
he can see the door through her
and the night ahead

they call her Sorrow
the woman in bombazine
by the blind window
